Doha Convention Centre (Completed) & Tower (suspended)
The project calls for construction of Doha Convention Centre and Tower (DCCT). DCCT is located in West Bay Area, Doha. It will also comprise a 100,000 square metre convention centre with associated catering and retail space and a car parking facilities for 3,000 vehicles. DCCT will include a 105-storey tower that comprises a hotel, serviced apartments, and retail outlets.
The Doha Convention Center Tower is an estimated 551 m (1,808 ft) tall skyscraper under construction in Doha, Qatar. Construction has been suspended following the discovery that the building would impact flight paths to and from Doha International Airport. Construction is expected to continue once the New Doha International Airport is fully completed on reclaimed land approximately 3 km to the east of the current airport. www.ndiaproject.com
The building, shaped like a tapering obelisk, will house offices on the lower levels, apartments, a hotel and penthouse residences on the upper floors. At the very top, a private club will occupy a 60 m (200 ft) high glass cylinder surrounded by extensions of tower’s facade and supported by a structural helix.
Project has been cancelled in the beginning of 2014. Contractors that submitted prequalification documents have been informed that it has been cancelled due to a decision by higher authorities. The currently status is suspended.
